Hello,
I have been a member of this group for only a short while.
I have been in the head hunting/executive recruitment business for 7 mos now.
When given the hard assignments I was stuck and had no one to talk to I would get shut down.
Today I was hacking around trying to understand and analyze name generation and if it would work for me. LOL
Right now we have a killer niche assignment for a wood window and door company in the GTA.
I was getting killed on my calls this morning and the gate keeper absolutely shut the door on me at one specific company.
I was frustrated and feeling hopeless when one of the senior consultants in the office took over and
with a great amount of smoothness he dialed the number, finessed the gatekeeper, got to shipping/receiving and
began to extract supervisors names in the plant.
He has been in the game a long time, maybe long before namegen or sourcing got hot and sexy.
It was a means to an end for a placement and a pay cheque.
So for the rest of the day with Version One of Scripticals in my hand and
a little bit of model motivation from my associates in the next desk;
I have proceeded to pick off names from companies in the window and door industry in GTA effortlessly.
Not all my 30 calls today bore fruit but I was able to build a conversation better
with more esteem and confidence in my new found namegen skills.
What I learned today:
1. Know who you are and what you are looking for.
2. Be firm but gentle, don't ever give up!!!!
3. Go with the flow.
4. Expect to win some and lose some.
5. Keep dialing and have fun every day!!
